AGM Wed 23rd Oct 2019 at 7.30pm

Hollington Village Hall

You are invited as a Hollington resident to the AGM of the Hollington Residents Steering Group on Wednesday 23rd October in the Village Hall. This is a great opportunity to meet together and discuss the development of our village.

The Steering Group (HRSG) have been working to represent the views of Hollington Residents to Checkley Parish Council and Staffs Moorlands District Council in compiling The Local & Neighbourhood Plans (as expressed at the Village Hall Meeting in April 2016 i.e. regarding development preferences for brown field sites and homestead settlements.)

At this meeting we will report on our activities since Oct 2017, and on Progress of the Checkley Neighbourhood Plan. Neighbourhood Plans are prepared by town or parish councils. Checkley Parish Council have created a Neighbourhood Plan  to ensure that both local residents and the Parish Council have more of a say in future developments in the whole Parish area,

Neighbourhood Plans include a vision and policies for the future development of an area. The plan can be used to choose where new homes, shops and employment should be built, protect important local green spaces and influence what new buildings should look like. The Neighbourhood Plan feeds into the Staffs Moorlands District Council Local Plan giving local people more influence in what happens in our neighbourhood.

The Local Plan is a strategic SMDC plan which influences how and where they will identify and list sites for future development.  It sets out what the SMDC would like to achieve in each of the main towns and the rural areas.

Further information is available on the Checkley Parish web site https://www.checkleyparishcouncil.co.uk/ndp/

There will also be a discussion about the church yard wall, led by Rev Liz Jones and Chris Bean, In recent years two sections of the wall have collapsed and been rebuilt. Last year JCB and the Friends of St Johns financed the rebuild, however earlier this year a further section collapsed. We want to hear your preference as to the action to be taken to replace/rebuild/stabilise the wall, e.g. whether to replace with stone or a hornbeam and rail fence.

Thirdly we are seeking volunteers and suggestions for the St Johns Village Fayre and Management of The Village Hall.

Finally, advance notice that a Defibrillator training session will be held in Hollington Village Hall on the 29th January 2020 at 7:00 pm, should you be interested in attending please contact Sandra Peck, her contact details are below.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 23rd October,

Melanie Swanwick
